countdown: 19

Today we received the most excellent news … after many specialists reports and tests, Joe/Frank’s application for special provisions in his HSC has been successful!

This means he will be permitted to use a laptop in his exams.

Despite his disability there was no certainty at all that the application would be approved. Similar cases have been rejected in the past and I fully expected we’d have to go through the appeal process.

Such a relief!

Waking up: 3 May 2012

countdown: 20

Another downside of the shorter workdays and gorgeous weather is that there is not a great deal of opportunity for variation in viewly photography.

I know, so tiresome to have to be continually confronted with this:

Morning: 1 May 2012

Morning: 2 May 2012

I am sure you feel my pain.

I was forced to take to my desk to mix it up a little.

Every-so-slightly-less matchy: 2 May 2012

==========

We’ve reached the pointy end of the year at SaltMinesLimited.

This means a good deal of insanity and most everyone in the upper echelons casting about for likely victims on which to lay blame for not achieving our completely unrealistic firm-wide annual target (for there is absolutely no way we will).

Not a very nice atmosphere in which to spend one’s days. I could go on and on about the toxicity, but you’ve heard it all before and it is exhausting to even think about it.

I will be glad when the move is done, Joe/Frank is settled and I can cast my net about for alternate employment.

minimalist food blogging: april

And the results are in! Pleased that I managed to sustain it for a month.

I do miss the photographs though and feel a wee pang when I link to old posts – must resolve that somehow.

So, time to catch-up on the remains-of-the-view …

This time of year is both completely lovely and completely ghastly. The weather is gorgeous, but coming home from work in the dark is revolting, except when confronted by this:

Stillness: 27 April 2012

===========

I took a break from all the assignment supervision and wandered out on Saturday evening to take the daily view snap. It was only when I was framing the shot that I noticed a lovely surprise perched on the balcony railing!

kookaburra!: 28 April 2012

He was super-friendly and we fed him wee scraps of rare roast beef, which he quickly gobbled down after bashing them on the ground several times to ensure they were dead.

=======
Yes, we have finally arrived at a moving date!

longing for a nap

It was a thoroughly exhausting weekend.

Fortunately, a good deal of progress was made on certain assignments:

Which both look rather better In Real Life than the quite rushed & ghastly images would indicate.

I’m hoping I will be sufficiently recovered to resume normal postering activities on the ‘morrow.

final count-up: day 2

A public holiday in the middle of the week is tremendously disconcerting. I kept thinking it was Monday all day. It will be a nice surprise to my brain tomorrow afternoon when it realises the following day is not Wednesday.

sunset: ANZAC Day 2012

The weekend that is not Wednesday will be full of assisting Bessie complete two assignments: art and textiles. Daunting indeed as there is still very much to do and the deadline is looming. She is normally so well organised that it is rare she needs such intensive help. Nonetheless I think it is important for the babies to know that if they get into difficulties, their loving family will dive right in and drag them out.

If only I had a Mummy to come to SML and help me dig myself out from beneath the avalanche of revolting, conflicting and quite impossible tasks on my endless to-do list.

=======
I can’t countdown as yet, because we have not decided on a moving date.

remains of the day

Every day for the month(ish) until we move into OurVeryOwnGiantHaus, I’ll be posting a photo of the utterly spectacular view from the tiny haus we’ve lived in for the entirety of our relationship.

While we will be very, very sad to leave the neighbourhood we love so much, we’re all super-excited to explore our new one.

Already we’ve visited (what will probably be) our local for a quick beer and look forward sampling the schnitzels.

And there is so, so much more to discover!

===========

But on to the photo of the day:

foggy: friday 20 April

When I dragged myself out of bed it was all bright and sunny, then the fog descended. In all the time I have lived here I have never seen that happen – usually I wake to fog and it eventually lifts. Climate change anyone?

Hoping, we’ll get a wide variety of weather in the remaining days, so that I might capture it all and share it with the three of you.

our future

Today we drove out to photograph this

Settlement is 17 May.

I am forever indebted to my most excellent and supportive husband for his tireless work on the haus buying and associated administivia.

I feel rather guilty that I have contributed very little, but console myself that I will excel in the packing / unpacking / endless changes of address front.
