Because of the top-heaviness issues, my magnificent construction had to be briefly retired while I arrived at a solution.

TheUniverse rewarded me by delivering the perfect base into my hands on Friday evening – part of a deconstructed ikea something I spotted discarded in a laneway while driving home from SML.

While I was agonising over increasingly more complicated methods to attach the top to the base, clever Don suggested more wee brackets. D’oh.

Off to Bunnings for a couple of brackets and a carpet tile and we have a most stylin’ (and definitely tip-proof) kitty scratcher!

I feel quite smug about it.
