Was my first thought when I read this smh article this afternoon.

Bessy said she had heard it on the radio and said, “fireworks? there is nothing special about that” and then became excited when she heard it was meteors. Such is the overuse of pyrotechnics in Sydney (I was thinking of logging the firework events – because there are so very many, and they bear no relationship to any celebratory events).

But, despite the threat of blindness and attack by giant plants, I’m still going to attempt to watch.

I suspect it will be overrated.
