2011: day 133 (f) shepherds pie [redux] | 130511
Whenever we make this dish we invariably have way too much filling and our pies were rapidly outgrowing our available cooking recepticles. Don had the super-cunning idea of freezing some filling and topping it with new mash when required. Genius!
Shepherd’s Pie: a recipe of our own devising – basically just lamb, onions, a tin of tomatoes, a couple of dollops of tomato paste, a carrot, peas, some herbs and a dash of worcestershire sauce.
I cannot say enough good things about this dish – the ne plus ultra of comfort food. Often we’ll have roast lamb just so we can make pie later in the week.
