We fully intended to have this on day 79 (sunday), but it required a little more slow-cooking than we had anticipated and we were starving and it was late, so we carried it forward.

I would argue that this is by far the cheapest meal that we have cooked. Tons of leftovers (2 lunches and 2 dinners for freezing) – we estimate the cost per meal is less than $10 (which easily feeds 3 of us).
And it is marvellously delicious. I’m very keen to explore the long, slow cheapo cooking come winter.
