Busted out a very, very long time family fave – probably older than Bessie. I have no idea of the origins of this, but I have a very vague remembrance of it being from side of a pasta packet.
Lasagne-inspired pasta bake.
Essentially just curly pasta shapes, bolognaise sauce and bechamel sauce – two layers of each, covered in breadcrumbs and grated cheese, cooked in a 180oC oven for about 30 minutes.
Takes a good deal of time (but totally worth the effort) – fortunately the weather was extremely cooperative by being rains-ish and much cooler than over the previous terribly hot days!
