I’ve been lurking here a fair amount recently and came across a thread asking for recommendations for online book sellers within Australia (because as we all know, while book prices are oh-so-very-enticing in the US, postage is crippiling – so no Amazon for us).

One of the answers linked to the book depository, which is a UK site and which at first I dismissed because I figured the shipping costs would be even more excessive than the US – but no! Postage to Australia is ….. free.

Holy crap!

That was so overwhelmingly exciting that I put in a largish order today (mostly stuff for the daughter-formerly-known-as-Nancy’s upcoming birthday, but some awesome Hardy Boys for me).
