no longer like rocks

on the way to the physio

Monday’s appointment with the new physio was excellent.

She was very sympathetic to the horrendous state of my neck and shoulders and really seemed to understand what is going on. In essence my hyper flexibility and not having a good scaffolding of muscles means there’s a lot of stress on my neck and shoulders and this is impacting all sorts of things including my breathing and my jaw clenching.

She also gave poor neck a very good working over. And the relief! I’ve been in a good deal of pain for many weeks and while I’m still a little fragile, to not be in perpetual discomfort is wonderful.

Right now I’ve got very gentle rehab exercises and directions to do simple things like changing how I sit and being conscious of the position of my shoulders.

There’s a long but positive road ahead and a good deal of Pilates in my future (but not for a while yet).
