One of our other holiday realisations was that we’d benefit from having some (or some more) German.
Don did German at Uni but is extremely rusty. He did a placement test today with the Goethe Institute with a view to doing a class. We’re super-keen to see what level he lands at.
I’m very, very much a novice. I know my alphabet, please and thank you, hallo and goodbye, wasser mit gas and kaffee mit milch – and a few other (very) basics. Before launching into a class I’m checking out what the library has to offer.
Achieving “barely competent” is my goal here. I am determined to not let my extreme ignorance of grammar^^ defeat me.

^^ if you are an Australian of a certain age, you will feel me on this!
Though honestly, I’m a reasonably intelligent person – I’m sure I’m perfectly capable of learning grammar. I also resolve to stop using that as a reason.

You’d better believe I will be hitting you up for tips!
