i’m your venous (week 8)

So I’m now at 8 weeks of rubbing caster oil into my venous lake for 5 minutes twice a day.

Progress shots below:

You can compare to week 3 here.

If I’m honest, I’m not seeing much progress at all. The spot currently quite dark and unchanged in size. I’ll occasionally get a light patch around the edge, but this isn’t a constant thing and I’m wondering if it is weather/temperature dependent.

I still have quite a bit of the bottle left, so will bash on. Perhaps I need to ramp up either the frequency or time? Will report back in another couple of weeks.

  1. Thank you very much for the update! 🙂 The picture quality is wonderful, as is your determination. Your persistence inspires me. Thanks for being my partner in crime on this and for helping all the people who may stumble upon this in the future.

Unfortunately, my castor oil vs. venous lake journey seems to mirror yours. I’m honestly not sure if I’m seeing any real progress. I want to believe I am, but if so, the results are so subtle I see them only when I squint. Like you, however, I’m going to press on. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day. (Though if it takes castor oil as long to work as it took to build Rome, I’m in trouble. I have some castor oil left over, but not THAT much.). 😉

The way I see it, the best case scenario is our venous lakes disappear – never to be seen again. The worst case scenario is our venous lakes stay pretty much as they are and we lose time, money, oil, and the lovely innocence that made us ever believe that castor oil could cure venous lakes. Though I’m bracing myself for disappointment, I’m secretly still rooting for the oil to work. Time will tell… Go oil go!

Until next time my friend, thanks again for the update!

    • Oh, I totally missed this.

Thank *you* mysterious C for this, because I probably would have abandoned the exercise altogether if it wasn’t for you playing along!

I remembered that I had a wee macro lens for my iphone which made the close-up a lot easier – though a bit tricksy to capture and involves contortions in front of a mirror.

VL appears different every time I look at it. Just when I think I’m finally noticing fading, next time I look it is dark and pronounced. I have a horrid suspicion that it was always so variable and nothing at all is happening.

I still have almost half the bottle of caster oil left and am contemplating whether to take it to Japan with me or if two weeks without application will set me back entirely (if in fact there is any setting-back to do). I’m treating it like sit-ups or running – it took a long while to see progress with either. And there is just enough hint of progress that it keeps me (barely) interested.

I’m hoping to do another update next week, maybe photographs will prove [something]?
